His name is Frank Dimitri. He is 74 years old and he started at the age of 28 as a bar-back, someone who stocks everything behind the bar that a bartender might need. In essence, they are a bartender’s apprentice.

When Frank saw the ad in the paper for the bar-back his said to himself, “Why not me?” And he got the job. Deep down, though, Frank had another dream. Check out this video:

I find it interesting that when it came to being a bar-back Frank could easily ask himself the question, “Why not me?” When it came to his dream he ran the other way for nearly 50 years because of lack of confidence.

I’ve written about this before, and probably will many times again, but living our dreams is not about being confident but being courageous. It’s the ability to be shaking in your boots and going after your dream anyway regardless of the outcome.

If Frank didn’t muster up the courage to audition for this show we would have all missed out on hearing his voice.

Frank waited until he was 74. It really is never too late but why wait? What is your dream that you continue to put on hold because you lack the confidence to go for it? What are we all missing out on from you because you’re just not confident enough yet?
