If you are a dog owner or dog lover you know they have their own quirks just like us humans.
Check out the video below for a good laugh at a dysfunctional hound and, maybe, yourself.
I hope you enjoyed the video as much as I did. Did you also get the same message out of the video that I did?
For much of that dog’s life there was glass in the door and it had to wait for the door to be opened to go out. Even with the pane gone the pup’s mind told him it was still there.
A great example of this in our modern world is the Berlin Wall. It’s been nearly 30 years since the wall was torn down. Yet, even with the wall down there remain deep divisions between the two old Berlins of East and West. Many of those divisions are the result of self-imposed fears and biases that took many years to build up and will take generations to tear down. Even with the wall down, in the mind’s of many people, the wall is still there.
I know I struggle in my life with self-imposed fears, barriers that I place in front of myself that keep me from accomplishing my goals or missing out on my dreams.
My freshmen year in college I broke my foot just a few days before our first game. The doctor said I would be out four to six weeks. When the doctor gave me the go ahead to start playing again I remember feeling a lot like the dog in the video. I just couldn’t do it. I didn’t trust the health of the bone in my foot enough to really go for it. My recovery took longer than anticipated because of my fear of breaking my foot again. It was all in my mind!
More often than not we can easily justify or rationalize reasons not to do something or try something. When we get backed into a corner sometimes we’ll admit that we are simply making excuses.
What is the invisible pane of glass that you have placed in front of yourself?
What is something you are wanting to try or are dreaming about doing or accomplishing but you have placed a barrier in your path that is simply in your mind?
If you’d like another good chuckle carrying the same message, check out this video: https://youtu.be/HfUavBDIdvk
